FAQ

Which videos can I get a transcript from?

Public YouTube videos with uploaded or auto-generated captions. Videos without captions, deleted videos, or videos you cannot access are not supported.

Can I choose the caption language?

If the video offers more than one caption language, you can switch languages in the result. This shows captions that already exist on the video; it does not auto-translate.

What’s the difference between TXT, SRT, and VTT?

TXT is easiest to read and edit. SRT and VTT include timing, so they work in players and video editors.

Do I need an account to download captions?

No. You can copy the transcript and download TXT, SRT, or VTT without signing up. The video still needs captions on YouTube.
